rachel ward - What is Nutritional Therapy?

" Let food be thy medicine "

Nutritional Therapy uses nutrition science to help promote health, peak performance through individual care.

Registered Nutritional Therapist use a wide range of tools to identify potential nutritional imbalances and understand how these may contribute to an individual's symptoms and health concerns. We are all individuals with varying needs and differing health challenges. A Nutritional Therapist will create an individualised plan to address nutritional balance and lifestyle recommendations to help support the body towards maintaining health, rather than a one size fits all programme.

Why use Nutritional Therapy?

Nutrition and lifestyle approaches to healthcare have been repeatedly shown to support the health of all the major systems of the body (skeletal, muscular, nervous, respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, excretory, endocrine, immune, reproductive and skin, nail and hair health). Typical priorities in nutritional therapy consultations are to achieve optimum energy levels, healthy blood‐sugar balance, emotional and psychological wellbeing, optimum gastrointestinal health and tolerance to a broad range of food groups.

In the face of ever increasing demands on our time and resources, both mental and physical, we all need sufficient energy to get through the day. Even with what may be considered 'adequate' nutritional intake, fatigue and health problems may result from emotional, social, or physical stressors, plus diet and lifestyle factors.

Functional medicine

Functional medicine seeks to address underlying causes of health issues and looks at the person as a whole, rather than a series of symptoms.
